What we measure

To learn which stories people find useful, our site records simple reading statistics, such as which page was opened, how far down the page a reader got, roughly how long they read, which link or share button they tapped, and whether they came from a search engine, social media or a shared link.

What we don't collect

We do not use cookies for this, we do not store IP addresses, and we do not collect names, emails or anything that identifies you. A random setting stored in your browser decides which of two headline versions you see.

Third parties

We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure visits in aggregate. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. When we start showing advertising, our ad partners may use cookies, and we will update this page and ask for consent where the law requires it.
